Why this role matters Vonage Senior Communications Engineers are the technical backbone of our global AWS cloud-based voice platform, the critical layer that sits between the PSTN and all of our UCaaS applications. In this senior role, you will design, enhance, and maintain our platform while serving as a technical authority and mentor, driving architectural decisions, leading complex projects, and shaping the automation and tooling that keeps our infrastructure ahead of the curve. Your key responsibilities Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert on SIP architecture, VoIP and Ribbon infrastructure (SBC, SLB, PSX, RAMP) Architect and implement complex, large-scale solutions requiring high levels of functional integration across the PSTN and UCaaS stack Make custom modifications to SIP infrastructure to provide bug fixes, add new features and integrate with new PSTN carriers Design and develop Python-based automation tools, scripts, and frameworks to streamline operations, deployments, and monitoring Troubleshoot and resolve complex SIP issues across the network, including deep packet-level analysis Drive lifecycle management of voice systems and network equipment, including capacity planning and end-of-life strategies Lead code and design reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and play a consultative role in defining processes, tools, and standards for project delivery Lead and support production deployments of new or modified operating systems and software applications Collaborate closely with vendors, carrier teams, and external stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions What you'll bring Required: 7-10 years of hands-on experience designing, configuring, and managing SIP network elements in production environments Expert-level knowledge of VoIP protocols: SIP (UDP, TCP & TLS), RTP, SRTP, RTCP, and DNS Deep expertise in managing and troubleshooting Ribbon SLB/SBC/PSX clusters at scale Strong proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, scripting, and integration development Hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS Proven ability to isolate and resolve complex issues by troubleshooting call flows end-to-end Solid working knowledge of Linux operating systems, including performance tuning and administration Experience we consider a plus: Experience with OpenSIPS/Kamailio configuration and development Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Ansible or Terraform Experience with observability and monitoring stacks, particularly Kibana/Grafana Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code in a telecom or cloud communications environment How you'll benefit Group Health Insurance (ICICI Lombard) Life Insurance (ICICI Prudential) Group Accident & Disability Insurance (ICICI Lombard) Plum OPD Wallet Plum Wellness Benefits Flexible Benefits Plan Discretionary Time Off (DTO) and Volunteer Time (VTO) Additional benefits and perks will be shared and discussed with you by the recruiter during the interview process #LI-KF1 There’s no perfect candidate.
