We’re searching for a Class A Driver based in the following locations: Palmer, TX, Aledo, TX, El Paso, TX, and Phoenix, AZ. You will help change the commercial trucking industry and play a key role in delivering data to engineers in an effort to continually improve our product.
Employment Type: This is a 6-month assignment with the potential to extend.
Schedule: We are currently hiring for multiple shifts pending location, including both day and night shifts. Please note that shift days rotate and may include weekends.
In this role, you will
Safely pilot autonomous semi trucks for on road and closed course testing in service of our development and commercial pilot operations
Remain alert and attentive while monitoring the Aurora Driver during extended stretches of autonomy
Log real time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing, to be delivered to engineers
Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora to help drive progress on Aurora’s mission
Demonstrate positive impact at Aurora by working on cross-functional projects as time permits
Maintain up to date knowledge of how our self-driving technology works. Understand daily software and operational changes.
Maintain active and current status within required partner applications. This includes ensuring up to date user accounts, profile information, and necessary access permissions are configured and regularly verified across all critical third-party vendor platforms.
Achieve and sustain all mandatory certifications and accreditations as designated by management, compliance bodies, or critical partner agreements.
Work toward quantitative and qualitative goals that impact all of Vehicle Operations and Aurora
Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License
Driving record must pass Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) guidelines
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
Ability to travel as needed: (up to 50%)
Available to work night shifts (second and/or third shift)
Ability to work rotating shifts as needed
Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
80% of shift time spent in vehicle (vehicle as office)
Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements.
Is at least 21 years of age
Must pass DOT physical
Meet all DOT qualifications
Desired Qualifications
Truck driver trainer/instructor experience
Truck technician experience
Inquisitive attitude, interested in problem solving and solving puzzles
Experience in operations, technology, customer service, or automotive field.
Experience working in a collaborative environment - team player
Proficient in G-Suite
Command line interface experience
Interest and aptitude for technology tools - apps, gaming, adobe creative suite, etc.
The base hourly wage range for this position is $31.00 - $38.50 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for benefits.
